
Embedded and hardware security: PUFs, TRNGs, side channels, medical and payment devices, neural implants.
Wayne Burleson's research is on VLSI circuits and embedded/hardware security for medical devices, payments, transportation, and defense, including PUFs, true random number generators, and side-channel analysis. He is co-PI on NSF-funded work on the security of neural and medical implants (including on-chip intrusion detection). He is an IEEE Fellow and a recipient of the UMass Chancellor's Medal.
