Burleson Co-Leads NSF Project on Security of Neural Implants

Wayne Burleson

Professor Wayne Burleson is a co-PI on a five-year, $3.5 million NSF award to protect users of neural and medical implants from cyber-physical attacks, including “brain-jacking.” The project, led by Northeastern University, brings together UMass Amherst, Massachusetts General Hospital, the University of Illinois, and the University of Arkansas. Burleson leads the UMass hardware-security work on on-chip intrusion detection and resilient device electronics. ECE announcement
